Post-release Interview with Brian Potter

We're so proud of Brian for getting his story into the world. While hesitant to take the first steps he threw himself into it and put together a great debut release!

We reached out to Brian to ask him how the process went and wanted to share his experience in case it's useful for authors thinking about starting their own journey.

Did you ever think you'd publish a book, and if so, how long had you considered publishing your book?

My parents have had a book on their coffee table since I was twelve, where I published my first poem. Now my dream of having a novel to sit with it has come true. And for about that many years, I've thought about it.

What was the hardest and easiest part of the process?

The most difficult thing about writing is always making time for it. The ideas can't become a story until you get them out. The process feels easy as long as there's dedication to it, and discipline for it.

What surprised you the most throughout your experience, from the first conversations to after the release?

The most surprising part was the initial offer. I had always imagined it going very much the other way where I finish the work first and sit on it waiting for an interested party to reply to query letters. And at first, just because it felt like terrible timing, I nearly declined and might never have come this far. And I'll be thankful for all of my foreseeable future for that.

Would you work with SthenoType again? If so, are you considering another release?

I have a slew of brainchild projects and want to see most if not all come to fruition. I can't think of any reason not to continue on with SthenoType unless we decide together that other options are a smarter play.
